The aim of Connell Guides, and our online resources is to help teachers and librarians encourage a love of literature in their students.

Our emphasis is on the excitement and pleasure that can be derived from reading great novels, plays and poems, and our guides are intended to stimulate thought – to help students understand what these great works are really about, what the best critics say about them and how differently they can be interpreted.

Our subscription offer has been developed in consultation with teachers and librarians, resulting in a package that is both unique and practical in the way it assembles critical material and in the accessible, engaging and entertaining format in which this material is available.



Subscribers not only gain unlimited online access to our 73 guides, but can also view exclusive content and resources only available to subscribers. These resources include textual analysis pieces, theoretical essays and exam guides written by leading academics, plus a weekly curated news bulletin with recent literary and historical goings on.

Our first landing spot for finished guides and titles under construction is our subscriber site, so subscribers will often have access to guides months before they are published.

Our online resources are used by both academic departments and school libraries, often integrated into the school’s intranet so students can log in at home or in the classroom with ease.

The site is responsive on all smart devices so students have the ability to access our e-books and resources whilst on the go, and can download pdfs to refer to wherever they are.
